Kyle Klein Color Glow C-Line Vanguard – Kyle Klein is one of the best young talents in the game due to his great putt, easy distance, and smooth nose control in the fairway. The Vanguard from Discmania Discs, is a fantastic feeling disc that is fairly stable without being a meathook. Discmania says this about the mold: “Vanguard showcases a new level of reliability in our fairway driver lineup. The blunt nose will feel resemblant to an FD1 or FD3 but has slightly smoother margins on the edges and rim on the molding, allowing it to sit more comfortably in the hand. A Vanguard meant to be thrown with force and relied upon when you need it most. A more powerful throw is able to carry forward on a rope and finish with moderate fade and steeper angles of throws can execute a hyzer line or anhyzer that returns reliably with ease.”

Discmania has nailed their color glow plastic. This stuff feels amazing and it holds up great.
Feels great flies great
I’m a Sidearm dominant player-
My forehand distance averages out at 300 ft — this is the disc that gets me there
**As a disclaimer
I do not have a good backhand throw and cannot speak to this disc’s flight on a backhand
This is a review of the Vanguard when used on a FOREHAND**
[I am a MA3 895 rated player for reference]
This disc for me is ideal for the torque-resistant straight control distance driver slot for the forehand
Was using a Hurricane for this slot (which is basically a Destroyer) but the wide rim brought on more inconsistencies than distance (since I’m not pumping drives out to 400+ ft.)
The Vanguard holds straight for a good while (with no turn) and finishes with a nice fade. To me this pairs well with a NS Firebird. The firebird has that nice straight flight with a hard DUMP and this goes further first before a FADE (not a dump)
Probably the Vanguard is gonna be compared to a Thunderbird a lot.
And there are folks out there who love love LOVE their Thundies
But
Unless you already HAVE a Thunderbird you LOVE – it’s hard to FIND a Thunderbird you LIKE
So
Instead of buying/trying a ton of Thunderbirds – I’m going to buy just one Vanguard
In regards to this particular plastic-
The S-Line from last year is the one I bag and as far as I can tell – this one flies the same
If you put a gun to my head maybe . . . maybe I’d say it’s a half a tick more OS than the S-Line
But that might be expectation bias (cause it’s in the community zeitgeist that glow is more OS – even though it isn’t always)
The plastic itself is a little more stiff than the S-Line
Kyle himself said in the announcement video that the glow C-Line came out flatter and I don’t disagree
The glow holds well
I do believe that I prefer the S-Line over this one as far as which one I’m going to have in the bag
But
Do I regret buying this disc?
No
Firstly I’m always happy to support great players out on tour
Kyle killed it with the Midnight Prowl series and has nailed it again with the Vanguard
Second I really like playing glow rounds and this will definitely come out then

Is it the disc for you?
Well – If you have can throw sidearm with a close to flat release and enough power to get to 275-315ft. – and you find 9 speed rims comfortable
And maybe you love pretty glow and flat topped discs—
