Malta – Paul McBeth Prototype

(23 customer reviews)

Prototype Malta – The newest disc in the Paul McBeth lineup, the Prototype Malta is an overstable midrange designed to handle a ton of power. Available in Discraft’s Swirly ESP plastic, these Prototype Malta’s feel great and have a super awesome look to them. From everything we have heard they have a similar flight to a Zone, a trusty overstable flight, but with the distance and glide of a Buzzz. Designed to be both overstable and controllable, the Prototype Malta is a super useful disc that can handle headwinds and power shots. This disc seems to be destined for Paul’s bag and will be used a lot by him. He loves throwing the Zone and this disc is just a longer version of it. Instead of throwing a Raptor or Force in this spot and powering down, he will probably reach for the  Malta and throw it with a ton of confidence.

Discraft says this about the mold: “Paul’s 4th disc is a mid-range. With a strong yet controllable flight, this disc will offer players a feel and flight similar to the Zone but with the trust and distance of a stronger Buzzz.”

This is an overstable, reliable midrange, even at only 174ish grams. It definitely found a place in my bag!

  2. Jason Ralph (verified owner)

Love the flight, wish I would’ve gotten max weight. Holds any line I put it on, unless I really crank it. I think it would be truly overstable at max weight.

  3. Chris E. (verified owner)

Great OS mid! Feels like a verdict but as OS as an anvil

  4. Tyler (verified owner)

    Awesome disc

  5. Manual Tavarez (verified owner)

    Loved the discs!

  6. Cameron H. (verified owner)

Love all the details you guys give on your discs! Definitely will buy from y’all again.

  7. Ryan S. (verified owner)

Overstable Midrange Perfection! The combination of glide and stability is something been looking for for years. Not to mention when you pick one up the first thought is oh that feels good!

  8. Jared Niles (verified owner)

Feels great in my hand. Flys like old x-wasps and I love the stable flight.

  9. Ben (verified owner)

Great disc!! Exactly what I wanted!

  10. Ian (verified owner)

Always a pleasure doing business with OTBD.

  11. Sharon (verified owner)

Pretty good utility midrange. I can stick it on any line and it stays pretty smooth with a gentle fade back left. RHBH

  12. Chris Masteller (verified owner)

The Malta is one of my favorite midrange discs and a staple in my bag for headwind throws and when I need over stable fade.

  13. Tyler Winston (verified owner)

Stability wise, I think it is between a buzz and buzz OS. It can handle a lot of torque and fade out at the end, but it’s a more subtle fade than a buzz OS. The rim feels really nice in the hand.

  14. Zachary Farquhar (verified owner)

    Flies the way I’d want

  15. Dwight (verified owner)

Fairly beefy midrange. Very reliable groundplay. No excessive skips.

  16. Cameron Rhodes (verified owner)

I love it, clean and fast shipping! By the way I’m a huge fan of your pod cast, I talk to you guys all the time on Twitter! Keep up the good work as always! Definitely will be doing more business! I’ll have to take a trip out there to play a round with you guys

  17. Anonymous (verified owner)

Awesome less glidy buzz with a very predictable overstable finish!

  18. Brian A. (verified owner)

Always awesome being able to hand pick your discs- great selection!

  19. Kiplin Bliesner (verified owner)

    Good disc

  20. Richard Williams II (verified owner)

I mainly got it to put on a shelf, but got curious to how it flies. Its in between a Discraft Buzzz and an MVP Vector. Let’s just say, it’s in the bag now not the shelf.

  21. John M. (verified owner)

Proto Malta has a straight line with a dependable right hook fade RHBH that gives confidence in those shots you want to avoid going long from mid-range distances

  22. Justin Long (verified owner)

As stable as I had hoped!

  23. Scott Roberts (verified owner)

Very beautiful and finely crafted disc. Haven’t had much luck forehanding it but it backhands wonderfully.
