Atomic Kiwi – RPM Discs is an up and coming company in the disc golf world. Hailing from New Zealand, these discs have a great look to them with really cool artwork feautring different birds native to New Zealand. The Kiwi is a 10 speed understable hybrid driver. Sitting right in between a fairway and a distance driver. They have a really good feel and are sure to get you a nice understable flight. Perfect for beginners to get full flights out of the disc to get plenty of distance down the fairway. For more advanced arms the Kiwi will be perfect for rollers, gaining you big distance on the ground.
RPM says this about the mold: “The Kiwi was RPM’s first driver and was previously known as the Raptor and the Taniwha. The latest iteration is a more overstable than the previous versions of the disc and will hold a consistent angle through high speed with a sharp fade to finish.”
Speed 10 | Glide 4 | Turn 0 | Fade 4 |
Super disappointed with this, doesn’t flip at all, feels like I’m trowing a captains raptor. Not sure why but safe to say it didn’t go in my bag
Phenomenal over stable fairway driver. This thing is BEEFY
1 star is not relative to the quality of the disc. The disc is labeled wrong on the website (as an understable 10 speed), but what I got was a beefy 10 speed that is more overstable than a Captain’s Raptor. The plastic feels great in the hand, but if you don’t have the arm speed to throw 450’+ this is nothing more than a utility disc. I throw this thing on roller anny lines and it fights to the ground within 200′. If you want overstable, look no further.
OTB,
If you fix the flight numbers (10, 4, 0, 4) feel free to delete this review.
Thanks!!!
Good utility disc
Beautiful disc. I don’t throw it well yet, but it’s a good one!
Just a weird disc. Very overstable and doesn’t feel great holding it. Odd rim and flight plate transition.
Holy cow! I mean… holy bird! This disc is extremely overstable! If you are one of those players who HAVE to have an overstable version of the Firebird in your bag but don’t want to sell your non-throwing arm to get one, you need to grab a Kiwi! The newly retooled Kiwi is absolutely outstanding for a sidearm player. If you end up getting one of the older run Kiwi’s you will know with the first throw as they were originally designed to be understable. After RPM retooled it to make it overstable, it is the complete opposite end of the spectrum. It is great for sidearms, great on windy days, great for skips, and absolutely perfect for when you want to get around something. As for the feel in the hand, it is fairly similar in the hand to what an FX-2 feels like but without sharp edge that feels like you are going to require stitches after a full round with it. Most of the Kiwis I have seen are super flat on the top and while they are a 10 speed, they will still fit that slot of a Firebird, FX-2, or Felon because of how OS it actually is. After putting the Kiwi in the bag, I will never have a need for a different OS Fairway or lower speed Distance Driver. This disc is pure beef!
