Divergent Golem – Silicone rubber discs have been gaining steam lately and one of the coolest is the Divergent Discs Golem. This is a mold that feels similar to a Zone but it is a little deeper and has less glide. The Silicone rubber plastic feels really good and in this mold the edge is a touch stiffer than the Alpas or other Silicone discs. Divergent says this about the mold: “Due to the vast popularity of demand of the Alpas StayPut approach disc, we have developed a second StayPut approach disc, the Golem. Like the Alpas, the Golem is made of a super soft Silicone that doesn’t bounce or skip. Where the disc lands, it will stay within a few feet. Unlike the Alpas, the Golem is a very overstable approach disc. This means that the disc will be very consistent, will only travel in one direction, and will not go very far. If you are a right handed player and throw the Golem on a backhand throw it will finish to the left. Aim to the right of your target and enjoy the consistency. Need the Golem to finish to the right? Throw it forehand and don’t worry about it gliding too far or turning left.”

Sticks to the ground – a bit more stiff than the alpas but better than a zone.
not OTB’s fault, but the plastic these discs come in is crap. I purchased this at the OTB open, used for 2 weeks, and broke the flight plate on the basket on a run. the flight of these are awesome, dumb overstable. you throw a chop sidearm and it’s very accurate and doesnt skip much. Sadly, these discs last worse than DX. not worth a purchase and it has ruined my opinion on this brand. to add to it, I’ve found another golem with similar damage on my home course, reinforcing this view
went through two of these in 4 total rounds of golf, both broke on a spike hyzer. I really loved the feel of the disc in my hand, but they need to work on durability.
TL;DR: Great utility disc and does as its designed to, but the durability is terrible, broke on the first tree.
This disc is unique, and so close to being great. The material is nothing like the other silicone discs I have used, much stiffer. That being said, it is still soft enough to eliminate most if not all ground play. Flies way more stable than the numbers suggest, this thing is stupid overstable. Basically a Tilt equivalent for a 4 speed, and has no glide. I loved having this type of utility in my bag, put it on any kind of anhyzer FH or BH and it’ll land hyzer and stay put. Problem is the durability, 2 field sessions, then hit a tree on Tee #1 and got a nasty 4 inch crack across the flight plate. Was 60 degrees and sunny out so can’t blame the temp. Despite losing the disc without even a single round, I’m still tempted to buy another. Unless I got a lemon run, I cannot recommend this disc.
OTB themselves: 10/10 as always. Fast, respected custom request on delivery, and got exactly what I expected.
Plastic was not what I thought it was and disc didn’t even make it a full game before it got a hole in the center of the disc
I had sent OTB an email asking if the were going to carry the Golem they replied yes then the day they dropped OTB sent me any email letting me know they were on the site, Great customer service!
