Phenakistoscope Pilot – The Phenakistoscope is a design that could be called the precursor to the gif. It is a design that when spun at the rpm it animates what is on the artwork. Well our good friend Mark at the shop spent a bunch of time making this idea come to life. The design has changing moons, dancing mushrooms, a woman doing a flip while throwing, and Kumiko designs that are all animated when spun. We love this design whether in motion or not. It is clean and interesting and there are lots of layers to the design. This is Mark’s first stamp on a disc and we couldn’t be happier with the job he did. The Phenakistoscope Pilot is a great feeling putter in Electron Firm plastic, it is great for in the circle putts and looks amazing. Streamline says this about the mold: “The Pilot has a medium-depth grip, small-bead wing design, flat top, and a comfortable rounded nose. The Pilot’s feel in the hand with grippy Electron plastics will inspire confidence, while its dead straight flight takes you right to the pin. MVP throwers will find the Pilot’s depth in between the Atom and Anode, and its flight most similar to a seasoned Anode.”

I know there’s a lot of hype right now regarding the Pilot. The hype is legitimate, and it is a quality disc. I switched from F2 Protos/Atoms for this, and it just clicked with me. The bead is hardly noticeable, and it is just so comfortable in the hand. It has a decent fade at the end of a long putt, which helps give a little extra chance on jumpers. Inside the circle this thing is gold. And I think they are gone, but this stamp was just killer. Thanks, OTB.
