Star Colossus

Colossus – New to Innova’s lineup in late 2015, this was their first venture into the 14 speed discs. These are pretty much the fastest, widest rim drivers around. The Colossus has a 2.5cm rim thickness, compared to the Destroyer’s 2.2cm. Given the wide rim thickness, it still has a comfortable grip in the hand. Setting the Speed aside, this disc should have a nice flight for most players that have the adequate arm speed. When thrown hard, it will flip and hold for a while before a reliable fade finish.
Innova says this about the mold: “The Colossus is a max distance driver with predictable high speed turn and reliable fade. Although it has a wide rim, it is also relatively easy to hold and throw both backhand and forehand. If you’ve wanted to throw a really fast driver, but couldn’t quite handle the wide rim, try the Colossus. The GStar Colossus flight numbers have been updated to better reflect the less stable flight. (14/5/-2/3).”
Speed 14 | Glide 5 | Turn -1 | Fade 3 |
The Colossus is a beautiful long distance turnover disc for me, if thrown in lighter weights (171g) and once it is broken in a bit. Out of the box, this disc needs a bit of time as a forehand disc, or even a lumberjack’s splitting awl. Somebody has to do that course maintenance! Once it’s broken in though, it flies for days.
Good flight. Similar to a Destroyer but slightly easier to throw
It flips up pretty easily for a 14 speed
Gift
not beginner friendly and slice feeling in hand
Good speed but have to get it spinning to get the glide
