Cosmic Photon – A gorgeous new version of the super popular Photon mold! MVP is getting darn good at this cosmic swirl =)

Here’s what MVP had to say about this SE run – “Michael Ramanauskas gives us his take of a Photon’s light path and ray in a unique triple-foil visual. Continuing to play with light, this holofoil stamp flashes its way down the fairway, creating a cascade of light patterns and beautiful Cosmic Neutron swirls.”

Photon – The MVP Photon is one of the workhorse drivers in the MVP lineup. It is fast and pretty overstable without being a meathook. Throwers with power will get the disc to slide to the right for a bit while still getting a reliable fade back to hyzer. All players will see the Photon end on hyzer and should get plenty of forward distance. Thrown by players such as Jeff Faes and Matt Dollar, the Photon is a bomber that can handle power. It is a go to distance driver and great for cycling to get several different flights. Available in a few different plastics you can find the flight and feel you are looking for. The MVP Photon might be the best driver in the MVP lineup.

MVP says this about the disc: “The Photon is best described as a longer Tesla, with power throwers able to achieve some flight extending turn, and all throwers getting a reliable fade. The Photon is naturally headwind resistant but average power throwers can use a headwind to emulate those extended flights of high power throwers.”

This disc just goes! Forehand and backhand.

  2. Anonymous (verified owner)

Beautiful disc, cant wait to beat it in.

I tested this against the Streamline Trace. I found that I enjoyed the Trace a bit more than the Photon. However, I think that it is a “hand feel” thing.

The Photon is manageable. It handles power nicely, especially on a flex FH shot. I did feel that the overmold dug into the hand a bit.

I would not suggest that the Trace = the Photon. But, they are quite similar.

In terms of comparisons to Destroyers, this is less OS.

I throw Insanities A LOT. So, I’m used to the overmold. Still, something just didn’t click with me and the disc. I see it’s value and I do not dislike it!

The Cosmic Neutron blend is purportedly more OS than other MVP plastics. I did not find this to be the case.

I appreciate the disc’s design and it is a good option. I went with the Trace in the end, however.

  4. Anonymous (verified owner)

Looks great – plastic is a little more slick than typical Neutron.

  5. Timothy Veltsos (verified owner)

It’s a over stable plastic compared to the neutron

  6. Tucker R. (verified owner)

This disc is sick! It is an amazingly easy to control 330+ forehand! Perfect!

  7. Jaakko O. (verified owner)

Considering I live in Finland, the disc arrived super quick. Flies just like a new Photon should: dead-straight with a good but predictable fade in the end. Maybe a bit flatter than the Proton ones I have. Extra nice stamp!

  8. Ryan (verified owner)

Really nice run. Gets a subtle turn out of the box and a nice fade. Slightly more OS than a 2019 neutron photon I have.

  9. Bryan S. (verified owner)

    Beautiful disc and arrived promptly
