Firefly – Nexus – Nate Sexton

(20 customer reviews)

Nexus Firefly – a new mold made to Nate Sexton’s specifications! This mold will feel very familiar to fans of the Aviar and Discmania’s P2. It has a slightly Overstable flight for a Putter. Not close to the AviarX3 in stability, but it will find it’s way left eventually with a right hand backhand throw.

This was the first mold made in the new Nexus plastic (the Jessica Weese Aviar was made in the Nexus after the initial release of the Firefly months ago). This plastic has a very grippy feel while staying quite firm as well. We think this feel will please many players!

I’m a huge P2 fan and wanted to give these a try for cooler weather since X-Line P2s are discontinued. Plastic is on the firmer side (but not as stiff as KC / P-Line) with a very slight tacky or velvety feel to it. In the hand the firefly feels a little thinner and might have a flatter top (less shoulder). Putting with them, the Firefly seems a little more stable with a little less glide than X-P2s. Good disc overall but I think I still prefer the P2

The Firefly is my favorite putter. The feel of the nexus plastic is great and the mold is the most comfortable for me to grip of any putter I’ve tried so far. Seem to be running out of stock most places, if you see them available and are interested I’d recommend snagging a couple. (Sorry I bought the last few off OTB)

Plastic is grippy and firm (but not McPro hard), and it does handle the wind well. This may become my new putter next year.

  4. Zach Cole (verified owner)

The nexus plastic is the best plastic I have ever felt in a putter. It’s offers superb grip in warm or cold temps, wet or dry. The putter in the hand feels slightly taller than a P2 with a slightly deeper rim. The flight is very similar with maybe a tad more glide and less stability than a P2.

Really liked the feel of this putter. The nexus plastic is a little like yeti but slightly softer. It almost feels like my yetis but beadless.

Best putter I’ve ever used! OTB great as always

This plastic is amazing! Not getting the same glide I get from a D-line P2, but we’ll see what happens as they break in.

    Chain grabber!

Some snippets from Innova about the mold and release

Our newest putter and Nate Sexton’s Tour Series putter—the Firefly—is now available the Innova Factory Store. The Firefly is made for the touring pro—or any player demanding stable putt and approach disc that’s comfortable in the hand. It features a beadless rim and will debut in the new “Nexus” plastic, a firm plastic that’s grippy and more durable than our DX line. It can handle tee shots. It can even take on the wind.

The Firefly has straight flight with a slightly stable finish. It has enough grip for cold and wet days and enough stability for windy ones!
— Nate Sexton

Firefly flight numbers are 2,3,0,1, positioning it as a slightly more stable version of the Aviar Putt & Approch disc. ”

“Nate Sexton needed a stable to overstable putter & we developed the Firefly. The Firefly is a deep, beadless putter that will provide consistent flight in most all conditions. Nexus plastic provides the stiffness requested by Nate, matched with exceptional grip.”
